SMART AGE Updates: Curriculum Review and Future Milestones

During the summer months, the SMART AGE project team has been busy working with curriculum reviews by external experts. The first full draft of the media literacy curriculum for older learners was completed at the end of June and has been sent out to gather objective feedback and validation.

The feedback provided by the external reviewers will guide the final improvements to the learning modules. Once these updates, along with translations into partner languages, are complete, the final curriculum will be available in the fall of 2026.

SMART AGE Curriculum Modules

Following the curriculum’s release, the project will move into its next phase: transforming the educational materials into an interactive Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Scheduled for release in 2027, the MOOC will allow seniors to learn step by step and at their own pace. Learners who complete the course will receive a digital certificate, while progress through individual modules will be recognised with digital badges.

With this curriculum, SMART AGE is building the educational foundation for a safer and more confident digital life for older adults.
