Kick-Off Meeting in Slovenia & Croatia

Every project starts with a dynamic kick-off meeting, and SMART AGE started with one that lasted for two days! The first day of the meeting was hosted in Čakovec (Croatia), followed by a second day of sessions in Ormož (Slovenia). The SMART AGE consortium is led by Bildungshaus Retzhof (Austria), partnering with Pučko otvoreno učilište Čakovec (Croatia) and Ljudska univerza Ormož (Slovenia).

While this partnership aims to produce tangible results – including a micro-credential curriculum and an open-access online course – the core innovation of SMART AGE lies in its pedagogical engine: the practical adaptation of the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp 3.0).

During the two days, partners discussed the first steps in the new project, especially related to the key outcomes, the curriculum, and the open-access online course. SMART AGE embraces the paradigm shift presented by DigComp 3.0. For our target demographic – seniors living in rural areas – SMART AGE moves beyond standard technical instruction. We are shifting the emphasis from simple “technical information handling” to critical understanding, explicitly recognizing older adults’ lived experience as a cognitive resource.

Led by Pučko otvoreno učilište Čakovec, the partners will use the results of the fruitful discussions from the meeting to soon develop a micro-credential curriculum that will later be transformed into an online course. Creating this curriculum involves “translating” these 100 complex, high-level DigComp 3.0 outcomes into accessible clusters of 10 learning modules designed specifically for older learners.
